C’Ville—Two Ladoga men were fatally injured when their car crashed into a concrete culvert a short distance east of New Market early Saturday morning.

Joseph Featherston, 30, was killed instantly in the crash. His neck was broken.

Thomas (Tommy) Davis, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Davis, died at 7:05 o’clock at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville where he was brought following the discovery of the wrecked car. It is believed Davis was driving the car.

The wreckage of the automobile, which blocked the highway at the culvert, was discovered at 1:30 o’clock Saturday morning by Raymond Simmons, driver of a McDaniel Freight Lines truck.

Simmons was on his way to the home of his father, James Simmons, of near New Market. Simmons had completed his day’s work as a driver of a freight lines truck at midnight..

Leaving his car at the culvert with the lights burning, Simmons aroused Cline Sayler of New Market, whose home is just west of the culvert.

Sayler promptly called Noble Reeves, New Market undertaker.

Simmons, Sayler, and Reeves experienced difficulty in removing Davis from the wreckage. His body was pinned between the car door and the front seat of the five-passenger coupe.

Mr. Reeves brought Davis to Culver Hospital. He suffered a fractured skull.

Mrs. Featherston and Davis had attended the Ladoga-Covington basketball game earlier in the evening.
